In Croatia, Pecko families are almost entirely Croats (from Pozega area ), barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Kutina and Pozega. In Dicmo in Sinj area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Pecko.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Pecko live in Croatia today, in 19 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 8 cities and 9 other places, mostly in Jaksic in Pozega area (15), Stari Bosnjani (<10), Blato on the Island of Korcula (<10), Klostar Ivanic in Ivanic-Grad area (<5), and in Sisak (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
