Pažin families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from east Herzegovina , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in East Herzegovina (Stolac area) and in Zagreb. In places Prenj and Hodovo in East Herzegovina every eighth inhabitant had the family name Pažin.
Prevalence
About 440 people with faimily name Pažin live in Croatia today, in 180 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 31 cities and 49 other places, mostly in Zagreb (135), Metkovic (45), Jaksic in Pozega area (25), Split (20), and in Vinkovci (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
