Pažanin families are Croats and they are mostly from Trogir area. According to some sources they are from Velog Drvenika. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Trogir area and in Split. In Vinišće in Trogir area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Pažanin.
Prevalence
About 400 people with faimily name Pažanin live in Croatia today, in 180 households. There were 280 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 20 other places, mostly in Split (105), Vinisce in Trogir area (105), Trogir (55), Zagreb (35), and in Sibenik (20).
Outside Croatia
Family name Pažanin is present in 7 countries worldwide. The family name "Pazanin " is used by some 50 people in the United States and small number in Argentina.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
