Pavković families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Herzegovina , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Posusje area) and in Zagreb. In places Izbično and Vrpolje in Herzegovina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Pavković.
Prevalence
About 1700 people with faimily name Pavković live in Croatia today, in 690 households. There were 1300 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 73 cities and 163 other places, mostly in Zagreb (470), Trogir (95), Zivike in Pleternica area (50), Split (45), and in Karlovac (45).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
