Pavičić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Obrovac area. According to some sources they are from Gospic area or from River Bune area (Herzegovina), very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Sisak. In places Smokrić and Boričevac in Obrovac area every third inhabitant had the family name Pavičić.
Prevalence
About 2900 people with faimily name Pavičić live in Croatia today, in 1300 households. There were 2800 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 91 cities and 237 other places, mostly in Zagreb (715), Split (145), Osijek (105), Sisak (105), and in Skabrnja in Biograd na moru area (85).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over seventy times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
