Pavić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Krapina area. According to some sources they are from Pozega or Poljica, and are rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Tuzla Region, Bosnia (Tuzla area). In Lukovčak in Krapina area nearly every inhabitant had the family name Pavić.
Prevalence
About 7100 people with faimily name Pavić live in Croatia today, in 2800 households. There were 4400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 99 cities and 525 other places, mostly in Zagreb (1315), Split (500), Sinj (270), Zadar (265), and in Sukosan in Zadar area (210).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned about one hundred times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
