Pavelić families are Croats and they are mostly from Gospic. According to some sources they are from Krivi Put near Senj or Dalmatia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Gospic. In Korjenovo in Cazins Region (Bosnia) every second inhabitant had the family name Pavelić.
Prevalence
About 1600 people with faimily name Pavelić live in Croatia today, in 740 households. There were 1500 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 67 cities and 129 other places, mostly in Zagreb (455), Gospic (70), Slavonski Brod (65), Rijeka (60), and in Novi Vinodolski (45).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned about one hundred times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
