Paro families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Pag. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born on the Island of Pag and in Rijeka.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Paro live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 130 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Pag on the Island of Pag (40), Rijeka (25), Zagreb (20), Split (20), and in Zadar (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
