Pandža families are usually Croats and they are mostly from north Herzegovina , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Mostar area) and in North Herzegovina (Konjic area). In Donja Vratna Gora in North Herzegovina every third inhabitant had the family name Pandža.
Prevalence
About 670 people with faimily name Pandža live in Croatia today, in 270 households. There were 180 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than tripled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 46 cities and 75 other places, mostly in Zagreb (145), Nijemci in Vinkovci area (45), Split (35), Pozega (30), and in Ivankovo in Vinkovci area (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
