Paloš families are often Croats and they are mostly from Djakovo , less frequently Hungarians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Djakovo and Virovitica. In Rainci Donji in Tuzla Region (Bosnia) every fourth inhabitant had the family name Paloš.
Prevalence
About 120 people with faimily name Paloš live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Selci Djakovacki (60), Virovitica (15), Osijek (10), Laslovo in Osijek area (<10), and in Vukovar (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
