Paljug families are Croats and they are mostly from Jastrebarsko. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Jastrebarsko and Zagreb. In Paljugi in Jastrebarsko every second inhabitant had the family name Paljug.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Paljug live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are only located in in 8 Croatian cities and 12 other places, mostly in Zagreb (25), Jastrebarsko (15), Domagovic (10), Hrasca (<10), and in Slavonski Brod (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1943 in source Directorium ARCHI-DIOECESI ZAGREBIENSI.
