Palić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Janjevo (Kosovo) and according to some sources from Dubrovnik, barely Serbs and Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Janjevo, Kosovo and in Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 1500 people with faimily name Palić live in Croatia today, in 440 households. There were 230 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 45 cities and 46 other places, mostly in Zagreb (1135), Kistanje in Knin area (120), Split (40), Osijek (35), and in Trpinja in Vukovar area (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
