Paladin families are Croats and they are mostly from Buzet. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Buzet and Rijeka. In Šćulci in Buzet every third inhabitant had the family name Paladin.
Prevalence
About 240 people with faimily name Paladin live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 290 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in 6 Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 23 other places, mostly in Split (50), Zagreb (20), Dugi Rat in Omis area (20), Rijeka (20), and in Hrvace in Sinj area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
