Njirić families are Croats and they are mostly from Dubrovnik. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Dubrovnik and Zagreb. In Zaton in Dubrovnik every sixth inhabitant had the family name Njirić.
Prevalence
About 190 people with faimily name Njirić live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 160 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 8 cities and 11 other places, mostly in Zaton (60), Dubrovnik (50), Ljuta in Dubrovnik area (35), Zagreb (20), and in Mokosica (<10).
Outside Croatia
Family name Njirić (including: Njiric , Njirich ) is present in five countries on three continents. "Njirich " is used by some 50 people in the United States and small number in Australia.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1925 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
