In Croatia, Nizek families are Croats (from Sveti Ivan Zelina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sveti Ivan Zelina and Zagreb. In Polonje in Sveti Ivan Zelina every seventh inhabitant had the family name Nizek.

About 60 people with faimily name Nizek live in Croatia today, in 15 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent.
They are located in threee Croatian counties, four cities and threee other places, mostly in Polonje (35), Novo Mjesto (<10), Krecaves (<10), Zagreb (<5), and in Slavonski Brod (<5).
