Ninić families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Sibenik , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sibenik and in Bosanian Posavina (Brcko area). In Javor in Middle Bosnia every second inhabitant had the family name Ninić.
Prevalence
About 390 people with faimily name Ninić live in Croatia today, in 190 households. There were 200 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 30 cities and 33 other places, mostly in Sibenik (160), Zagreb (95), Rijeka (15), Velika Gorica (<10), and in Ceminac in Beli Manastir area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
