Nanić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Zadar area , also Bosniaks (from Cazinska Krajina Region, Bosnia) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Bosanska Krupa area).
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Nanić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Zagreb (25), Rijeka (25), Bjelovar (<10), Zadar (<10), and in Obrovac (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1942 in source Phone Directory of the Independent State of Croatia 1942.
