Nagy families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Daruvar area , rarely Hungarians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Osijek.

About 250 people with faimily name Nagy live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 210 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 31 cities and 43 other places, mostly in Zagreb (80), Osijek (20), Rijeka (10), Daruvar (10), and in Vinkovci (<10).
Outside Croatia
Family name Nagy (including: Naghdy , Naggy and Naghy ) is present in 102 countries worldwide. "Naggy " is used by some 60 people in the United States , small number in Egypt , and small number of people in Brazil.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over sixty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
