Mužinić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Split , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Zagreb. In Srinjine in Split every seventh inhabitant had the family name Mužinić.
Prevalence
About 400 people with faimily name Mužinić live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 370 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 27 other places, mostly in Srinjine (120), Split (85), Zagreb (35), Sveta Nedelja in Samobor area (20), and in Solin (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
