Mužar families are Croats and they are mostly from Krapina area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Krapina. In places Goričanovec , Brezovica Petrovska and Podgaj Petrovski in Krapina area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Mužar.

About 460 people with faimily name Mužar live in Croatia today, in 180 households. There were 420 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 24 cities and 61 other places, mostly in Zagreb (85), in Goricanovec (65) and Podgaj Petrovski (35) in Krapina area, Cacinci in Orahovica area (20), and in Sesvete (15).

Family name Mužar (including: Muzar , Muzhar , Muhzar and Muzzfar ) is present in 19 countries on four continents. The family name "Muzar " is used by some 500 people in Indonesia , about 60 in the United States , and small number of people in Austria.
