Munjas families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Ogulin , whereas often Croats (from Zadar). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ogulin and Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 120 people with faimily name Munjas live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 210 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Zagreb (25), Rijeka (20), Ogulin (15), Zadar (<10), and in Popovo Selo (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
