Moro families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Sinj area , rarely Italians (from Pakrac ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sinj area and in Pakrac. In Crivac in Sinj area every twentieth inhabitant had the family name Moro.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Moro live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 18 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Crivac in Sinj area (20), Split (20), Obrovac Sinjski (15), and in Dubrovnik (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
