In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosnian Krajina (Prijedor area) and in Zagreb. In Briševo in Bosnian Krajina every eighth inhabitant had the family name Mlinar.

About 710 people with faimily name Mlinar live in Croatia today, in 310 households. There were 520 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 43 cities and 77 other places, mostly in Zagreb (190), Rijeka (55), Split (40), Kutina (25), and in Novska (20).
