Miščević families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Ogulin area , whereas often Croats (from Osijek ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ogulin area and in Zagreb. In Vojnovac in Ogulin area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Miščević.
Prevalence
About 420 people with faimily name Miščević live in Croatia today, in 220 households. There were 830 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 40 cities and 57 other places, mostly in Zagreb (85), Josipdol in Ogulin area (25), Rijeka (20), Vukovar (20), and in Pozega (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
