Mišković families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina , rarely Serbs and Roms (also from Osijek area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Orasje area) and in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area). In places Kostrc and Matići in Bosanian Posavina every seventh inhabitant had the family name Mišković.
Prevalence
About 2200 people with faimily name Mišković live in Croatia today, in 940 households. There were 1100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 77 cities and 231 other places, mostly in Zagreb (255), Rijeka (115), Darda in Osijek area (95), Split (80), and in Zupanja (80).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
