Mišak families are Croats and they are mostly from Varazdin area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Varazdin and in Varazdin area. In Kozjak Začretski in Zabok area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Mišak.
Prevalence
About 490 people with faimily name Mišak live in Croatia today, in 190 households. There were 430 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 35 other places, mostly in Trnovec in Varazdin area (170), Zagreb (65), Varazdin (55), Bartolovec in Varazdin area (35), and in Sveti Kriz Zacretje in Zabok area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
