Miljević families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Glina. According to some sources they are from Sandzak area, often Croats from Slavonski Brod area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Glina and Osijek. In places Borovita and Brezovo Polje in Glina every fifth inhabitant had the family name Miljević.
Prevalence
About 570 people with faimily name Miljević live in Croatia today, in 280 households. There were 1000 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 50 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 34 cities and 71 other places, mostly in Zagreb (60), Privlaka (35), Split (30), Rijeka (30), and in Topolo in Dubrovnik area (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
