Miljanić families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Obrovac , less frequently Serbs and Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and Obrovac. In Livađani in Lipik every second inhabitant had the family name Miljanić.
Prevalence
About 320 people with faimily name Miljanić live in Croatia today, in 130 households. There were 260 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 24 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Zadar (45), Rijeka (40), Vinkovci (30), Zagreb (30), and in Sikovo in Biograd na moru area (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1925 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
