Miljak families are Croats and they are mostly from Drnis area. According to some sources they are from Omis area (Nova Sela) gdje se doselili from Zenica, Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Drnis area. In Ćehajići in Middle Bosnia every second inhabitant had the family name Miljak.
Prevalence
About 840 people with faimily name Miljak live in Croatia today, in 320 households. There were 460 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 90 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 40 cities and 68 other places, mostly in Split (160), Zagreb (95), Slavonski Brod (70), Dugi Rat in Omis area (50), and in Rijeka (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1930 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
