Milavić families are Croats and they are mostly from Omis area (Podgradje and Smolonje). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Omis. In Smolonje in Omis every fourth inhabitant had the family name Milavić.
Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Milavić live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in threee Croatian counties, in 6 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Split (30), Podgradje (30), Omis (15), Smolonje (15), and in Solin (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
