Mikulić families are Croats and they are mostly from Herzegovina. According to some sources they are from Medvidja near Obrovac. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Grude area) and in Zagreb. In places Kočerin and Ružići in Herzegovina every eighth inhabitant had the family name Mikulić.
Prevalence
About 3700 people with faimily name Mikulić live in Croatia today, in 1500 households. There were 1900 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 82 cities and 303 other places, mostly in Zagreb (750), Split (250), Osijek (115), Biograd na moru (105), and in Zadar (90).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1693 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
