Mihalic families are Croats and they are mostly from Cakovec area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cakovec and Zagreb. In places Polonje Tomaševečko and Polonje in Sveti Ivan Zelina every sixth inhabitant had the family name Mihalic.
Prevalence
About 280 people with faimily name Mihalic live in Croatia today, in 100 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 37 other places, mostly in Cakovec (100), Polonje (20), Zagreb (20), Klupci in Krapina area (20), and in Mala Subotica in Cakovec area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over sixty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
