Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Mekišić live in Croatia today, in 12 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in two Croatian counties, two cities and four other places, mostly in Luka on the Peljesac peninsula (20), Dubrovnik (<10), Broce on the Peljesac peninsula (<5), Zagreb (<5), and in Mokosica (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
