In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Dubrovnik and on Peljesac Peninsula. In Mali Ston on Peljesac Peninsula every sixth inhabitant had the family name Medi.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Medi live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 7 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Dubrovnik (10), Split (10), Mali Ston on the Peljesac peninsula (10), Zadar (<5), and in Ston on the Peljesac peninsula (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
