Mačković families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Novska area , less frequently Serbs and Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Sveti Ivan Zelina.
Prevalence
About 300 people with faimily name Mačković live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 440 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 31 cities and 36 other places, mostly in Zagreb (85), Jasenovac in Novska area (30), Jertovec in Zlatar area (20), Kratecko (15), and in Sisak (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
