Mavrić families are Croats and they are mostly from Novi Vinodolski area. According to some sources they are from The Soca valley in Slovenia (Anhovo). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and Novi Marof. In Donji Markovac in Cazma area every seventh inhabitant had the family name Mavrić.
Prevalence
About 290 people with faimily name Mavrić live in Croatia today, in 120 households. There were 300 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 30 other places, mostly in Rijeka (50), Podevcevo (45), Zagreb (20), Grizane-Belgrad in Novi Vinodolski area (15), and in Pula (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
