In Croatia, Matolić families are Croats (from Bosnian Posavina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Orasje area) and in Bosanian Posavina (Brcko area). In places Bok and Brčko (in Bosanian Posavina) every two-hundredth inhabitant had the family name Matolić.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Matolić live in Croatia today, in 16 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are only located in threee Croatian cities and 5 other places, mostly in Zagreb (25), Zupanja (<10), Selnica Scitarjevska (<10), Stancic in Dugo Selo area (<5), and in Lovas in Ilok area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
