In Croatia, Matina families are predominantly Croats (from Koprivnica area ), rarely Czechs (from Daruvar area ), and barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Koprivnica area and in Koprivnica.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Matina live in Croatia today, in 18 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in threee Croatian counties, threee cities and four other places, mostly in Hlebine in Koprivnica area (15), Daruvarski Brestovac in Daruvar area (15), Zagreb (<10), Daruvar (<10), and in Bjelovar (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
