In Croatia, Marčin families are generally Croats (from Kutina ), very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Slatina area. In Gornji Uljanik in Garesnica every fiftieth inhabitant had the family name Marčin.
Prevalence
About 20 people with faimily name Marčin live in Croatia today, in 11 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in only five naselja i to in Zagreb (10), Kutina (<5), Kupinecki Kraljevec (<5), Obrovnica (<5), and in Gornji Uljanik (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
