Marčeta families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanska Gradiska area) and in Pula. In Borinići in Labin area nearly every inhabitant had the family name Marčeta.
Prevalence
About 250 people with faimily name Marčeta live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 160 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 25 cities and 27 other places, mostly in Zagreb (45), Pula (30), Rijeka (20), Virovitica (15), and in Veceslavec (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
