Marinčić families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Krajina , barely Serbs and Italians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosnian Krajina (Bosanska Dubica area) and in Middle Bosnia (Maglaj area). In places Čusto Brdo and Batuša in Middle Bosnia every fifth inhabitant had the family name Marinčić.
Prevalence
About 790 people with faimily name Marinčić live in Croatia today, in 330 households. There were 420 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 90 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 52 cities and 100 other places, mostly in Zagreb (180), Split (30), Rijeka (30), Osijek (25), and in Sesvete (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1642 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
