Marinković families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Brac , often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Zagreb. In Poljica in Nin every seventh inhabitant had the family name Marinković.
Prevalence
About 1800 people with faimily name Marinković live in Croatia today, in 810 households. There were 1800 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 80 cities and 133 other places, mostly in Zagreb (290), Split (195), Bol on the Island of Brac (175), Poljica (105), and in Rijeka (85).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over sixty times, the first time 1642 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
