Marijanović families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Drnis area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Mostar area) and in Bosanian Posavina (Gradacac area). In Krivodol in Herzegovina every third inhabitant had the family name Marijanović.
Prevalence
About 1900 people with faimily name Marijanović live in Croatia today, in 790 households. There were 770 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 84 cities and 198 other places, mostly in Zagreb (325), Split (135), Osijek (105), Vinkovci (75), and in Rijeka (55).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
