Margić families are Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Brcko area) and in Zupanja area. In Skakava Gornja in Bosanian Posavina every twentieth inhabitant had the family name Margić.
Prevalence
About 210 people with faimily name Margić live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), in Gunja (25) and Vrbanja (25) in Zupanja area, Nijemci in Vinkovci area (20), and in Zupanja (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1924 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
