Marasović families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Pasman. According to some sources they are from Starigrada Paklenice and Ravnih kotara. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Sinj area. In Strmendolac in Sinj area every third inhabitant had the family name Marasović.
Prevalence
About 1300 people with faimily name Marasović live in Croatia today, in 500 households. There were 980 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 33 cities and 70 other places, mostly in Split (345), Strmendolac in Sinj area (95), Zagreb (90), Starigrad on the Island of Pasman (85), and in Dugopolje in Solin area (80).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1691 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
