Manestar families are Croats and they are mostly from Dramlja (Sv. Jelene) pokraj Crikvenice. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and Crikvenica. In Dramalj in Crikvenica every third inhabitant had the family name Manestar.
Prevalence
About 300 people with faimily name Manestar live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 160 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 90 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Dramalj (100), Crikvenica (50), Zagreb (40), Rijeka (35), and in Osijek (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
