Malčić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Djakovo area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Otocac. In Kuterevo in Otocac every twentieth inhabitant had the family name Malčić.
Prevalence
About 480 people with faimily name Malčić live in Croatia today, in 210 households. There were 460 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 31 cities and 49 other places, mostly in Zagreb (95), Kuterevo (40), Pozega (35), Osijek (30), and in Bjelovar (30).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
