Malkić families are mainly Bosniaks and they are mostly from Tuzla Region (Bosnia), whereas often Croats (from Banja Luka area, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Bosanian Posavina (Derventa area). In Lisovići in Tuzla Region (Bosnia) every third inhabitant had the family name Malkić.
Prevalence
About 90 people with faimily name Malkić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Zagreb (35), Rijeka (15), Dubrovnik (<10), Split (<10), and in Labin (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
