Maljevac families are Croats and they are mostly from Vrbovsko. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vrbovsko and Rijeka. In Liplje in Vrbovsko every third inhabitant had the family name Maljevac.
Prevalence
About 180 people with faimily name Maljevac live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 340 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 19 cities and 21 other places, mostly in Rijeka (25), Zagreb (25), Liplje (15), Mocile (10), and in Skalnica in Opatija area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1924 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
