Malinar families are Croats and they are mostly from Pleternica area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Pleternica area.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Malinar live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 150 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Zagreb (15), Brodski Stupnik in Pleternica area (15), Karlovac (10), Slavonski Brod (<10), and in Zapresic (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
